Bengali 5 spice steak frites

Ingredients

  • Steak 6oz
  • Bengali 5 spice heavy season
  • Potato 1 large
  • Flour 1⁄2 cup
  • Canola oil for frying
  • Black salt medium season
  • Garlic 4 cloves Zing/Tajin to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice potatoes into thin cut fries, and place in a bowl of cold water
  2. Fully dry french fries, and toss lightly in flour until each fry is lightly coated.
  3. Heat fryer oil to 375 degrees and deep fry until golden and crispy
  4. Immediately transfer to a paper towel lined plate to dry, sprinkle with Zing to taste.
  5. Leave steak on the counter for 30-45 minutes to temper for a more even cook, while you
  6. deep fry fries.
  7. Using a mortar and pestle, crush bengali 5 spice and heavily season all sides of steak
  8. Add black salt to all sides as well, lighter sprinkle as it is very strong.
  9. Heat a cast iron pan, add oil and lay in steak, cook to medium rare; roughly 3 minutes
  10. per side and finish basting with butter and garlic.
  11. Let steak rest for 5 minutes before plating
